ACARREIRAS Internship Programme: the beginning of a new edition

On February 20th, ACA welcomed a new group of students to its headquarters for the start of another edition of the ACARREIRAS Curricular Internships and Master’s Dissertation Projects Programme, bringing together participants from Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Management and Agronomic Engineering.

Designed as a shared starting point, the first day gathered all interns, whether their experience will unfold in back office roles or on construction sites, offering a comprehensive introduction to ACA, our culture and the way we collaborate across teams, with the Board of Directors, Human Resources and several departments presenting the company’s business areas and key challenges.

A particularly meaningful moment came from hearing the experiences of two former trainees who are now part of ACA, Sara Azevedo, who began in Sustainability and later moved to the Finance Department, and Cauã, who started with a summer internship and currently supports two construction projects as Assistant Site Manager, both reflecting the opportunity to grow and build a long term career within the organisation.

The day concluded with a hands on workshop led by Eng. José Pedro Gavinhos, Production Director, where participants were challenged to design and build a structural model of the new D. Antónia Ferreira Bridge, known as Ferreirinha, using spaghetti as the main structural element, an exercise that encouraged creativity, teamwork and technical thinking.

This marked a confident and inspiring beginning to a new journey, focused on developing talent and creating future career paths within ACA.
