São Tomé a Nadar
ACA supports São Tomé a Nadar, a project led by APTN – Associação Portuguesa de Técnicos de Natação and Federação de Natação de São Tomé e Príncipe that promotes water safety, swimming education within local communities, and the training of local coaches and instructors — helping to develop skills that remain in the territory and ensure the project’s continuity.
Over the past weeks, several activities took place across different beaches in São Tomé. A highlight was the Beach Festival at Tamarindos Beach, where around 20 young athletes competed in 25-metre freestyle, breaststroke, backstroke and relay races, while more than 100 young participants joined activities such as mini water polo, aqua fitness and beach volleyball.
The initiative concluded on March 8th with the Equator Crossing, organised by Crossing Equator at Inhame Beach in the south of the island, where trained swimmers and more experienced athletes completed this symbolic 3.8 km swim.
In a place where the sea is part of everyday life, knowing how to swim is also a matter of safety, inclusion and opportunity. ACA has been present in São Tomé for several years and is currently executing the Marginal 12 de Julho, a project that is reshaping the city’s relationship with the sea. Supporting initiatives like this reinforces our commitment to the communities where we operate.
